Becoming Through Pain Debuts Yesterday at Somers Gallery

Sensity Studio successfully opened Becoming Through Pain, a group exhibition at Somers Gallery, London. The project brings together eight women artists from different countries, curated by British-Turkish curator, writer, and creative consultant Huma Kabakci.

London holds particular significance for Sensity Studio as the city where the project first began, and the opening evening drew a full house, welcoming journalists, artists, and art enthusiasts alike.

Dina Mostovaya, founder of Sensity Studio, comments: “The exhibition 'Becoming Through Pain' reflects Sensity Studio’s mission to empower women artists and amplify unheard voices. We focus on supporting emerging artists from developing countries, helping them build sustainable careers in Europe and the UK, and gain visibility on the global stage”.

On the evening of the opening, artist Dyana Gravina presented a performance What I Don't Know Yet I Know, an intimate and quietly powerful work exploring the body as a site of memory, transformation, and survival.

Curator Huma Kabakci: “The exhibition brings together artists whose practices confront pain not as a static condition but as a dynamic force that shapes, unsettles, and transforms the female body. It begins from the premise that women’s pain has never been merely physiological. Throughout medical, social, and intimate terrains, women have historically carried wounds that were dismissed, pathologised, or rendered invisible. Alongside this history of injury lies another story: one of repair. Repair is not understood here as a return to an unbroken past but as a creative and political act in which the wound itself becomes material for making, rethinking, and becoming”.
